Beauty Rant: Jurlique Clarifying Day Care Lotion

I have very oily skin...sometimes so oily that it looks like I have washed my face in oil. This has been a problem for most of my teenage/young adult life and I have constantly been searching for a moisturiser that would help reduce this.

A couple of weeks ago I ran out of my normal moisturizer and being skint on cash at the moment I thought I would go for a cheaper option. I headed to my local chemist and started looking through the products, I came across the skin care line by Jurlique.

Jurlique is a line that claims to be made of all natural ingredients, seeing as my skin tends to react badly to most skin care lines I reasoned that all natural products would probably be a good way to go, so I picked up the Clarifying Day Care Lotion and trotted up to the cashiers desk. After paying for my moisturizer and nearly choking when she told me the price...so much for not spending much money...I went home.

Jurlique promises that this product is a lightweight moisturising lotion for oily skin that helps rebalance skin oiliness, hydrate, soothe and calm skin and provide natural antioxidant protection.

My first impression of the packaging was that it was really cute, it's a a small 30mL glass bottle with a plastic pump top. The smell however is entirely different. I pumped some onto my hand and took a whiff only to have my nostrils assaulted with something that smelled like a cross between chamomile and plastic and the colour and consistency is an almost carbon copy of Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion.

After applying it to my face and putting my make up on I headed to work hoping for an oily free day. 10am rolled around and I headed to the bathroom to check my makeup and to my horror my face was oilier than I had ever seen it.

I was so disappointed with this moisturiser because even after blotting and powdering my face it was back to looking like an oil slick every couple of hours and after paying $50.00 AUD I expected it to perform much better. I definitely wouldn't recommend this to anyone with oily skin...even though that is the skin type that it is marketed towards...it may however work a little better for someone with drier skin.

Beauty Review: Original Source Shower Gels

There are many things in this world that get me excited, but nothing more so than buying new beauty or makeup products!!!

I ducked into my local Coles (Australian Supermarket) the other day to pick up a few little bits and pieces, as I made my customary trip down the lady aisle I stumbled upon a rather bright and happy looking bottle of shower gel made by Original Source that was screaming at me to take it home.  Now at this stage I must confess that I have zero self control...if I see it and I want it...I get it...never a good outcome for my wallet. So today when I walked into Coles I intended on walking out with the paper, some cheese and a bottle of milk...somehow...three bottles of Original Source managed to slip their way into my trolley as well.

The first bottle is Mint and Tea Tree. The front of the bottle says 7,927 real mint leaves help make one skin tingling bottle of this and the back of the bottle says we've stuffed 7927 real mint leaves into this skin-tingling shower gel. Experience the cool mint tingle from 100% pure & natural Mint and Tea Tree essential oils. Packed with natural stuff & perfect to kick start your day!

The second bottle is Lime. The front of the bottle says 40 real limes help make one zingy bottle of this and the back of the bottle says we've squashed 40 real limes into this zingy shower gel. Experience the mind blowing hit of 100% pure & natural Lime essential oil. Packed with natural stuff & perfect for a full on fruit frenzy!

The last bottle is Lemon. The front of the bottle says 10 real lemons help make one zesty bottle of this and the back of the bottle says we've wedged 10 real lemons into this zesty shower gel. Experience rapid refreshment with 100% pure & natural Lemon & Tea Tree essential oils. Packed with natural stuff & perfect to blast away the cobwebs.

These gels are the most beautiful colours I have used them a few times and these are one of the most refreshing shower gels that I have used. The consistency is a little thicker than most that I have come across which means for me that a little bit goes a long way and they give a tingling and cooling sensation to this skin which will be perfect for a really hot summers day. The squirty end of the bottle is at the bottom which means that you are able to use every little bit up and none is wasted and at just $3.99 AUD they really are great value for money. My favourite aspect of them is the smell it is amazing, really refreshing and uplifting.

The Mint and Tea Tree one gives the skin a tingling sensation that seems to be quite popular with men (there is even a facebook page dedicated to it!). I had a look at the Original Source website www.originalsource.co.uk where you will find a bunch of different types of products ranging from shower gels to shampoos and conditioners. Unfortunately I was only able to pick up these three and it doesn't look like there are anymore products from the range in my home town, if anyone knows of anywhere else that I may be able to get them from it would be great if you could let me know.
